LIEBSTER AWARD

The amazingly talented Franza Haindl nominated me for this award!

You got the Award, now what?

- I list 11 random facts about myself.
- I will answer the 11 questions asked of me by the person who nominated me.
- I will then nominate my 11 picks for the award along with my 11 questions for them to answer when they post a response.
- If you’re nominated, your name/link will appear at the bottom of this post along with your questions. Follow the same format; paste the award badge to your blog, give us 11 random facts about yourself, answer my 11 questions, and choose your nominees…but you cannot nominate the blog who nominated you.

11 Random Facts About Me:

1. I began writing/planning the series I'm working on since November of the year 2009. That's 3 years and almost 2 months ago! Crazy, right!? (I was on 10th grade in high school. I began writing by accident!)

2. The first book I read on my own in the English language was 'Little Bee' by Chris Cleave. L.O.V.E.D. it!

3. I read Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows in one day! (Just because I wanted to know how it ended. If I recall, it was 9 AM when I began, and it was around 10-11 PM when I finished.)

4. I love, love, love nature. I like to be in the wild alone, with nothing but music and my mind.

5. In the Winter of 2011, my aunt and uncle took me to Florida. The timeline and complete plot for the second novel in the series was born!

6. I have around 14 scars on my body from injuries. From a cut leg, falling on rocks, cutting my thumb with a knife, stepping on a board with nails, and from falling from a tree.

7. I have a respiratory allergy to oranges, cilantro, and aged celery. When people peel oranges near me, the smell shuts down my airways and I can't breath.

8. I sleep with a teddy bear. (DON'T ASK!)

9. I love birds and fish. But I don't eat fish. And I prefer to look at the birds.

10. I once participated on a very short movie about gang violence. It was an amazing experience!

11. I have, in fact, heard the cry of La Llorona! Believe it or not, I heard her. (Post about it will be published soon!)

The 11 Questions Asked with My Answers:

1. What was the first book you fell in love with?
A: Little Bee by Chris Cleave

2. Who do you admire the most?
A: Many people around me that do what I believe I won't.

3. What is you favorite genre of writing and why?
A: Fantasy. I love to create my own worlds, issues and solutions.

4. Why do you write?
A: I love books deeply. I have a story that needs to be told!

5. What is you favorite first sentence?
A: Anything that brings me right into a scene.

6. Horror or romance?
A: Most horror I read has dull endings. The movies do, too. But I like horror in movies. I like to be scared (and have someone beside me to hug while watching! Ha ha. No one. *sad face*) Romance in my opinion moves too slow in books.  But I've watched many movies made from romance books, and I quite liked them! So, romance. And horror!

7. Are you the person you want to be?
A: I am the person I was made. If I'm meant to be who I want to be, I will. If not, I will be the person I was made to be.

8. Which experience first made you aware of the shortness of life?
A: Reading the Apocalypse in the Bible.

9. What is the emotion you fear the most and why?
A: Losing someone because of death. I fear having to see people suffer around me.

10. What kind of traveler are you?
A: I love, love to travel. Too bad I rarely do it. But if I could, I would go everywhere possible.

11. What do you desire most?
A: Publish my novels and see how people react to them.  I would just like to have the time and write, write, write. I'm obsessed with writing, but I find myself lost when I see where I am as a writer in a world full of people like me. Better people.

:-0 Now, do your blog post!

My awesome vampire friend! Elise Valente

7. Did you hate the new Star Trek movie? (Hint: the correct answer is "yes.")
A: No. I liked it!
8. What is your preferred genre to write? Do you ever see yourself writing in a different genre? (I know that's technically two questions, but since one is a follow-up, it doesn't count).A: Epic (urban) fantasy. Yes, science fiction.
9. Without using Google or any other search engine, do you have any idea where the phrase "Klaatu barada nikto" comes from? (+20 geek points if you do)
A: If I read it in Spanish, I can make it sound really funny! Klaatu Barada Nikto! (Meaning: What are you doing standing? And the last word...yeah, I'll keep that.)
10. You love vampires. Yes, this is a statement, not a question.
A: Umm. I do?!
11. Tell us all about your current project and why we should encourage others to start riots over buying it when it's released.
A: My amazing current project (The Empire's Curse!) is a book of epic fantasy! It starts a boy (Zach) and his 4 siblings who take a journey into darkness. After Zach's younger brother falls into a 'Nymphax Dream' for being a curious cat, he has to find a way to save him from this "eternal dream". Luckily, there is a way; Zach can sign a contract with a magical creature, who goes by the name of 'Snatcher'. What he has to do to save his brother is...move a mountain that sits on top of a city; a city filled with White Zombies...and a curse. A curse no one will be able to escape until the day the Serpent Queen comes back from the dead...to kill them.
